Create And Cultivate: Island Chic In Maui, Hawaii

I was recently in Maui to attend an influencer’s conference by Create & Cultivate, just one of the cross country curated pow wow of creatives, entrepreneurs, and business heads, put together by C&C founder, Forbes 30 under 30 honourees Jaclyn Johnson. The popular events take place three or four times a year and speakers have included Gloria Steinem, Rachel Zoe, Meghan Markle, Katherine Power of Who What Wear, Julie Rice and Elizabeth Cutler of SoulCycle, Garance Doré, and Hannah Fallis Bronfman.

At the Maui event, keynote influencers included Leura Fine – Founder & CEO of Laurel & Wolf, the online interior design business; the much followed Amber Fillerup Clark, the talent behind fashion and lifestyle blog, Barefoot Blonde; and Dominican lifestyle blogger and actress, Grasie Mercedes. Attendees came for inspiration, to enhance their businesses, mix, mingle and cultivate new relationships.

But if truth be told event attendees and keynoters in the conference room of the Marriott Wailea Beach Resort in Maui were just as tuned in to the amazing style going on that weekend. “Getting dressed up for us in Hawaii, usually means formal flip flops -” one local told me. But this important gathering of creative influencers on the island set the local style set’s wheels in motion.
