Lion of St. Mark’s Restored By Chanel

Thanks to Coco Chanel, the famous winged Lion of St. Mark’s which overlooks the Piazza San Marco has been beautifully restored.

While Chanel might be synonymous with Parisian fashion, Venice held a close spot in the late designer’s heart. It’s rumoured that the famed designer fell in love with the city and all of its architecture, specifically the lion perched atop the façade.

So when the iconic statue was due for a makeover, the brand stepped in and partnered with the French Committee for the Safeguarding of Venice. After several months of restoration, the new gilded lion was brought back to life, and is now looking more regal than ever.
